Hello Pack 12 families, 

Hope you are all doing well!!

We had a wonderful January meeting focused on personal safety with Officer Gil. Great job, scouts! 

This email provides an overview of what we have planned for the winter/spring months ahead. We're grateful for all of our amazing den leaders and parent community for their awesome volunteering. Event leads will send out more details as dates get closer. We have so much to look forward to!

FEBRUARY

Sunday, 2/2 3pm-5pm - Blue and Gold 

• Thanks Chris and Nicole (parents to Bear Harrison) for leading this event!

• Come join us at our Scout pack’s Blue and Gold Anniversary Party at Crissy Field South Beach, February 2nd from 3-5pm. 

• What are we celebrating? The Scouts were started February 8th 1910, which means it’s the 114th anniversary of the organization. Wow! Scouting sure has been around a long time.

• We will start by helping our community with a beach/park cleanup challenge, so anyone with trash pickup tools should bring them along. Bags will be provided.

• Then we will serve BBQ hot dogs and special blue and gold treats. Everyone is encouraged to bring picnic style side dishes to share with the group.

• This is sure to be a fun afternoon with our fellow Scouts and Leaders. Hope to see you all there.

Saturday, 2/8 3pm-4:30pm - Build/Drill Day for Pinewood Derby cars

• Thanks Will (dad to AOL Ian) for leading this event!

• Not a regular pack meeting, this gathering will have two band saws available for cutting derby cars into shapes designed by scouts

• Please sign-up if you plan to participate

• We also need the help of many parents to make Pinewood Derby Race Day (March 16th) run smoothly. Please sign-up for a volunteer role.

• Make sure to mark your child's attendance in Tab 3 if they plan to participate in the race

Saturday, 2/15- optional Chinese New Year Parade with Troop 12

• Let us know if you're interested and we'll connect you with Troop 12

MARCH

Sunday, 3/9 3pm-4:30pm - Hike and Campfire

• Thanks Sabrina (mom to Tiger Lily) and Sherwin (mom to Webelo Austin and Tiger Brooklyn) for leading this event!

• Focusing on the Outdoors Adventure we'll enjoy a hike at the Trailhead followed by a campfire on the beach

Sunday, 3/16 3pm-5pm - Calling All Racers! Pinewood Derby Race Day!

• Thanks Will (dad to AOL Ian) for leading this event!

• This is the day you've all been waiting for! Race day is a highlight of the scouting year

• Make sure to mark your child's attendance in Tab 3 if they plan to race

• Make sure you are signed up to help in one way or another, everyone's part of the pit crew!

APRIL

Sunday, 4/27 3pm-4:30pm - Field Day / Spring Recruitment

• Focusing on the Personal Fitness Adventure we'll have a fun day of games and activities

• Recruitment for next year: toward the end of our Field Day we'll have prospective scouts and their families join in to get a taste of our scouting adventures; this will be followed by a brief discussion and Q&A with leadership 

• If you have friends who are interested in learning more about Pack 12 for next year this is a great event to invite them to!

MAY

Saturday 5/17 - Sunday 5/18 - Final Pack Meeting Campout

• Thanks to our Camping Committee led by Deric (dad to Wolf Jasper) for leading this event!

• Arrival: Check in after 2pm on May 17th

• Departure: Leave by 12 noon May 18th

Greetings Pack 12 Families! 

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We are grateful for Pack 12 and our amazing cub scouts! 

Below we have some updates as we get into this busy time of year:

❄️ December 15th Pack Meeting:

• We are very excited to see you all on December 15th at 3pm!

• Each den will work on their first of two elective adventures and Cubmasters will be coming around to each den with a festive hot cocoa cart! ☕

❄️ Unit 12 December 14th Potluck:

• See (cubmaster email and the google doc) to sign up to bring something to the Unit 12 potluck. It will be held on December 14th.

❄️ Looking Ahead:

• January meeting - Sunday, January 12th 3pm - focused on the personal safety adventure. 

• May camping trip info- please let us know if your RSVP changes- we may be oversubscribed for the China Camp campsite and in that case will have to limit to one adult per scout, but hopefully not! 

• BALOO training - for the May campout it's required we have a BALOO trained adult. Please let us know if you can attend the training in January

❄️ Shout Outs:

• Way to go Pack 12 on another great year Scouting for Food!! Our community and our scouts pulled together to provide significant benefit to our SF-Marin Food Bank and the SF/Marin residents that they serve. Pack 12 raised an amazing 450 lbs and the Food Bank reported to our GGD Commissioner that they measured a total donation weight of 10,000 lbs!

• Job well done to Webelo Ryan for presenting at the most recent Golden Gate District Roundtable. Ryan attended a Jamboree-On-The-Air event in October and shared his experience with Golden Gate Council leaders in November.

Our October Halloween Carnival was a huge success!! Thanks to the many hands that put it all together and grateful to have such amazing weather 🌞

Below you'll find what's going on in November pack-wide; den leaders will connect with you on any den specific activities.

PLEASE NOTE: Most returning members (those that haven't already paid unit dues online this scouting year) will receive an email on 10/31 asking their scout to renew Unit Dues. Please complete this request as soon as you receive the email. Let us know if you have any questions!

Veterans Day Parade with Golden Gate District - Sunday, November 10th 10am

• Let Jalyn know if you would like to participate in this year's Veterans Day parade with other units on behalf of our Pack and you'd like to carry our flag

• Class A uniforms 

• Friends and family are welcome, and if you know any active or retired service members please ask them to join.

Scouting for Food - Saturday, November 16th 8am-12pm

Saturday November 16th 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location: Andronico’s

If questions come up, please text or call Una (mom of Grange – Webelo) at ________ - thanks, Una!!

There will be a table set up at 08:00 a.m. where you can gather to collect food and provide flyers with information.

Please pack food as you gather it, in either boxes or brown paper bags, but make it light enough so one person can transport a bag/box to and from storing food and bringing it to the food bank. 

Scouts should:

• Wear uniforms.

• Introduce themselves to anyone going to shop and provide a brief explanation why they are collecting food (see attached overview for how the Food Bank addresses hunger and refer to the Citizenship adventure in your handbook).

• Parents should stay with their scout.

Suggested items to gather:

• Canned goods: Tuna or Chicken, Fruit, Vegetables, Soups or Chili, Spaghetti or Ravioli, International foods.

• Peanut Butter, Condiments, Spices

• Cereal, Oatmeal, Snack Bars or Pop Tarts

• Pancake or Muffin Mixes, Crackers or Cookies

• Instant Soup, Ramen, Rice, Beans or Pasta

• Powdered Milk, Juice, Coffee, Tea

• No frozen food – No open containers – No glass containers.

Monetary donations:

Can be done with a QR code which will be on flyers left on the table where we will gather food.  Please note the minimum donation via QR is $10.00; or

Collect cash and keep at table -- we will collect at the end of donation collection (and the money will be delivered same day to the Food Bank)

Pack Meeting - Sunday, November 17th 3pm-4:30pm

November's adventure is focused on Citizenship and your den leaders will be organizing den-specific activities

Scouts in uniforms; let den leaders know if your scout wants to test for Bobcat

Greetings Pack 12 Families! 

Our Cub Scouting year is off to a wonderful start! 

We had a great gathering last Sunday at Fort Scott where dens worked on their Bobcat requirement and scouts got to know each other by working together on their den flag.

Parents got an overview of Cub Scouting and the wonderful offerings we have planned for this year. 

Below please find what's coming up next month in our calendar, note registration and sign-up dates and a few other housekeeping items: 

October

• Adventures

  • October's adventure is the Family/Reverence adventure. You can find this in your Scout's handbook. Please work on this adventure with your scout at home and let your den leader know when it's completed

  • Please continue to work with your scout on the Scout Oath and Scout Law as our goal is to have all scouts test and pass their Bobcat knowledge by December

• Events

  • Santa Cruz Boardwalk Overnight: Friday, October 11 - Saturday, October 12

    • Thanks to Ema (mom to Bear Kai and Tiger Miya) for coordinating this event!

  • Fleet Week Boat Tour: Sunday, October 13 8am

    • Thanks to Liz (mom to Webelo Anderson) for coordinating this event!

  • Pack Meeting Halloween Carnival: Sunday, October 20 3pm-4:30pm

    • Location: at the small field close to this address in the Presidio 

    • Each den will set up a carnival game and distribute candy (nut free). We'll take turns rotating through. Please have your scout wear their Halloween costume (nothing too scary or gory). If your scout does not have a costume, a scout uniform would also be just fine

    • Your den leaders will be reaching out to coordinate games by den
